Activities


Students enrolled in The Academy at Forest View have access to a number of activities throughout the academic year. 

Anti-bullying Club
Sponsor: Bari Green
The anti-bullying club provides a safe space for students to come together and problem-solve issues relating to bullying in school or cyberbullying online. Students discuss ways to help each other cope and to end experiences of bullying. 

Art Club
Sponsor: Edgar Urzua
Art Club is student-directed, meaning we explore artistic mediums students are interested in. Students use multimedia elements, engage in activities, and otherwise take advantage of an opportunity to make art and be social. 

Board Game Club 
Sponsor: Deanna Ligman
This club gives students the opportunity to play board games after school. Students can choose from a variety of games, based on their interests. We meet twice per week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, after school from 2:50 to 4 p.m. 

C.H.A.M.P.S.
Sponsor: Bari Green
Competent High School Adolescents Making Positive Strides (C.H.A.M.P.S.) is an after-school dance team for students who have maintained level two or three. This is an opportunity for students to learn discipline, as they must maintain requirements such as behavior, grades, and attendance in order to remain an active member. Students practice routines every Wednesday after school from 2:45 to 4 p.m.  

Choir/Music Club
Sponsor: Julie Nilsen
The Academy's Choir/Music Club is open to all students without an audition. Anyone interested in music and singing is welcome to attend. The club meets every Monday and Wednesday during the school year, from 2:50 to 4 p.m. 

Cooking Club
Sponsor: Frieda Schaefgen
Cooking club is open to all students interested in culinary arts or at least interested in learning more about food and cooking. The group meets Mondays and Wednesdays after school from 2:50 to 4 p.m.

Falcons of Integrity
Sponsor: Kara Paul
This club is for students to come together to celebrate a drug-free lifestyle through after-school projects and activities. To participate, students must respect and commit to the group, maintain confidentiality within the group and agree to participate. 

Falcon Tweets
Sponsor: Colleen Hammersmith
Falcon Tweets is a semi-regular publication produced by Academy students. The Fall 2015 inaugural edition had horoscopes, original poetry, an interview with Mr. Winsauer, student photography, jokes, school news, and awards.

Gym
Sponsor: TBA
After-school gym give students an opportunity to play organized sports together and otherwise engage in healthy fitness and exercise activities. All students are welcome. The group meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 2:50 to 4 p.m.

Homework Club
Sponsor: Various teachers
Homework Club gives students access to teachers who have expertise in every academic area so they can get the extra help they need. The club meets Wednesdays from 2:45 to 4 p.m. and student transportation home is provided.

Student Government
Sponsors: Bari Green, Shawn Brown
The Student Government is made up of one representative from each of the nine homerooms. The group meets every other Wednesday to organize various school activities, including the Falcon Frenzy competition and the annual Talent Show. Besides event planning, student government discusses enhancements or incentives to the program and other suggestions from the student body. 

The Academy Newsletter
Sponsor: Cortni Jablenski
The Academy Newsletter provides another multimedia opportunity for students. It is produced twice per year, created and designed by students with the help of a faculty sponsor. Students help with writing, editing, layout, and photography.

Yearbook
Sponsor: Cortni Jablenski
The Academy at Forest View has a yearbook that students create and design. Production elements include writing, photography, layout design, and more. All of these activities are done with the help and support of the yearbook sponsor.
